This Sunday I will be preaching on 1 Peter 1: 13-16. In this passage, Peter encourages us to “not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy.” I look forward to exploring this passage with you on Sunday.?
On September 18 (Next Step Celebration), I will be starting a new series called “Introducing Pathway.” The message series will introduce Pathway Church to our guests and reaffirm for members the core values taught about Christ and His church commanded in the Bible. Please exercise these values by welcoming new neighbors and friends to Pathway.
Sept. 18: Everybody’s Welcome - Jesus welcomed everybody.
Sept. 25: Nobody’s Perfect - Sin is our biggest problem. Jesus is the
Oct. 2: Anything’s Possible - God can and does do more than we ask or imagine.
Next Step Celebration
Are y’all ready? It’s coming very fast now! A highlight for me from the Leadership Team/Relaunch Meeting 12 days ago was the realization of how much has been accomplished in 21 months. We’ve hired a worship coordinator, a children’s ministry coordinator, and have opened a new position for service through Terri’s heart for connecting us to those in need. We’ve redone our marketing, added Sunday school, added and expanded family night, and added MomsConnect. We’ve taken the joy within us and given the body permission to express it before worship in the gym; and in smiles, applause and even hand raising (remember two Sundays ago—and it wasn’t forced!) during worship. Pathway is a relational, informal, joyful, relevant, and growing in worship freedom, warmth, and also numerically. Three Sundays ago we had nearly 170 in worship for baptism. Two Sundays ago we had over 140. Last Sunday we had over 150. We have guests every Sunday now. AND IT'S STILL SUMMER!
And look, I see the Samaritan woman and her ex-husbands and boyfriend coming down the road to meet Jesus. She must have seen the Pathway yard signs, the electronic billboard, heard the Shine ad, checked the web site, noticed the blood mobile and food collection for kids, and decided to come. Who gets to be first to say, “hi?”I believe it’s time for our next step, Pathway. May God give us the privilege now of being a harvesting community.
