This Sunday we will continue the series "Glittering Vices: Seven Misguided Pursuits of Happiness." We will study our third “glittering vice” – Greed/Avarice. Greed/Avarice is wanting to be able to provide for our needs by ourselves without having to depend on God. This vice treats money or possessions as the ultimate security blanket.
“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” ~I Timothy 6:17-19
I hope you are finding the devotions I prepare relevant and complementary to our series. I have been leaving copies at the end of the rows in the auditorium. They are quick and easy and a great way to get in the habit of doing personal or family devotions.
I will enjoy some time off in the next few months so here’s the upcoming guest pastor schedule:
April 2: John Wagenveld, friend of Pathway and head of Multiplication Network
June 25: Greg Kelley of World Mission. Greg attended Calvin College and is CEO
of World Mission.
July 16: Lance Davids, friend of Pathway and a teacher at Illiana Christian High
July 23: Pathway’s own, Rev. Larry Howerzyl.
