On Sunday we welcome Dr. Juan Wagenveld back to Pathway. Pastor Wagenveld preached many times at Pathway Church during our vacancy, and he has been a great friend to this congregation. He appreciates our vision and sees a bright future for our church. We look forward to Juan’s return and appreciate his ability to preach the Word of God. John leads Multiplication Network Ministries where he encourages church planting and Bible distribution through a large and growing network around the globe. Pastor John’s message on Sunday is “Waiting Eagerly,” and is based on Titus 2: 11-14. Paul writes to Titus, whom he calls “my true son in our common faith,” with some pastoral advice and instructions for leadership in the Church. He emphasizes good works as a result of the grace extended by God as a witness to the pagan context. He explains what must be taught to various groups within the church, and then comes this section that summarizes key aspects of the Gospel message: God’s grace that brings salvation, Godly living, the blessed hope, and the formation of a people who are eager to do good works. This week is also Name Tag Sunday, and we will be taking a collection for Multiplication Network Ministries. The JAM and Kidz Rock children will also be staying in the service.
I will return next Sunday, July 31, and pick back up on our Ten Commandments series titled, "Love God, Love All."
Are you interested in becoming a member of Pathway Church? I am planning to hold a Connections Class in August. This class is a prerequisite in order to become a member of Pathway Church. Please contact the church office if you are interested, (219) 558-0573.
THIS coming Wednesday, July 27, is our 3rd Summer Park Play Date for Moms with Kids of all Ages! We will meet from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at the St. John Splash Pad! Photos from our July 13 Park Play Date were added to our website under Media under Photo Gallery or watch for them Sunday in the Before-Church PowerPoint.
Last week we launched our special school supply fundraiser with the Elim Hope Packs. If you were unable to obtain a list of needed items last week, please feel free to reach out to Terri for details. These school packs provide essential school supplies for local children, and they bless the men and women at Elim's Adults Services by providing them with meaningful work. School supplies can be dropped off in the box by the offering box and are due by August 7.
Next Sunday, July 31, we invite everyone to bring a hygiene item for our offering for the Cedar Lake Food Pantry which is run by the Methodist Church. This food pantry serves about 50 families each month, and summer is a vital time as families are home for every meal. Suggested items are: tooth paste, toothbrush, hand sanitizer, dish soap, laundry soap, bar soap, shampoo. shaving items, feminine products, and any paper supplies: toilet paper, paper towels, and Kleenex.
Save the Date: Friday, August 12 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., we will be hosting a booth at the St. John Corn Roast event here in St. John at the Community Outpatient Lawn Area. The Chamber offers a great dinner and local businesses have booths available. Last year the Revolution Music Center had a mini concert with kids sharing their musical talent. It's a fun night for families! Come out to support and share the great news about Pathway to our neighbors! We will need face painters, (no experience necessary!), helpers with our prize wheel and people to hand out brochures. Last year we gave away over 200 items!
