When Mission Meets Preference . . .

Author: Pastor Joel

This Sunday I will be preaching on various sections from the book of Jonah. Jonah wanted God to be a being who favored Jonah and his people, and destroyed all the “bad people.” However God is God. And He will be who He is. He is “gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in love.” Don’t run from God’s mission to draw people to Himself. Instead, embrace the mission, and join with God in the harvest. That’s what Pathway relaunch has been all about. We’ve reorganized, reconfigured, and reenergized to join God in the harvest. May He choose to honor us by using us to harvest!

Worship Time 10:00 AM! Why? There is a definite preference among the unchurched for later Sunday morning worship times. Supporting evidence was gathered from Faith Highland, Suncrest, and Community Roselawn. Pathway wants to participate in the harvest, so we are bumping our time back to hit “the unchurched time zone.”

Invite a Friend - Next Step Celebration, Sunday, September 18, 10 AM.
-Shine 89.7 will have graced the airways with our “Come. See. Connect.” promo.
-The electronic billboard at Lake Central will invite people to bring clothing,
give blood, and pack food supplies for needy children.
-The Highway 41 signs will have made the secret of Pathway known to St. John.
And the fliers on business counters will have enticed some to check us out.
-7,500 postcards to local moms and those new to Schererville, Dyer, Crown Point,      Cedar Lake, and St. John, will draw new people to come, see, and connect.
-And 1,500 door hangers hand delivered Sunday will connect with some who are      looking for a vibrant, relational church.
-And the word of mouth now out there in the community about Pathway will
draw some to check us out.

O God of the harvest, bless our work!

On September 18 (Next Step Celebration), I will be starting a new series called “Introducing Pathway.” The message series will introduce Pathway Church to our guests and reaffirm for members the core values taught about Christ and His church commanded in the Bible. Please exercise these values by welcoming new neighbors and friends to Pathway.

Sept. 18:     Everybody’s Welcome -   Jesus welcomed everybody.

Sept. 25:     Nobody’s Perfect -            Sin is our biggest problem.
      Jesus is the solution.

Oct. 2:         Anything’s Possible -        God can and does do more than we                                                                             ask or imagine.
